Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - 'No Spoilers'
"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - 'No Spoilers'" (click thumbnail or here to watch .wmv v9 video - 4.7 MB, 1.20 Min.) Tonight Shannon, her boyfriend Tim, and I saw the 4th Harry Potter movie. After seeing ads for it in 5 different languages whilst in Europe (Harry Potter und die Fluer Kelch being my favorite), I was thrilled to finally be squirming in my seat. Only to be surprised - in the wrong way.
While I tip my hat at the filmmakers for tackling the task of turning J.K. Rowling's immense novel into a sub-3-hour movie, Shannon and I both thought they spent too much time on less important scenes, cutting short what we really wanted to see. Don't get me wrong, there were some riveting special effect moments (go Horntails!) but I knew there was something wrong when I caught myself leaning over to Shannon and whispering "is this getting tedious?"
Some things worth a GOOD mention are: Emma Watson's acting, Harry's part of the first task sequence, and the enchanted ceiling.
Long ago, my officemate Susannah invented the Rutger Hauer Rating System (RHRS). Since then, I think she has invented a new ratings system, but I couldn't find it on her blog. In homage to Susannah, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire gets 2 out of 5 Rutger Hauers.

Here's what I think, based on what you and others have said about the movie. (I have yet to see it.)
The Harry Potter series of movies is going to be a lot like the Star Wars of Highlander or any other long-sweeping scifi/fantasy series. The odds will be good, the evens will be bad. Just my thought. We'll keep watching to find out.
So, keeping in mind that my movie tickets costs twice as much because I have to pay for a babysitter when I see it, should I just Netflix it?
