"Pumpkin Attack"
I tried to grow pumpkins in Becky's garden last year. It was a noble effort. With the chiggers, the gophers, the powdery mildew, and the bad soil against me, it was a challenge to say the least. We did end up with one pumpkin, "Scarface," stunted, malformed, and split-on-the-side experimental specimen that he was. We put him out of his misery in December.
About 6 weeks ago, I decided it was time to try again. I went to OSH and got seeds for a type of pumpkin called "Cinderella's Carriage," and planted them on our balcony. 10 of them sprouted, I kept 2, gave 4 to my mom (who gave 2 away) and 2 each to a couple of other friends of mine. I asked Mom yesterday how big hers had grown, and she said they were "2-3 times as big as when I got them."
In comparison, mine might be a little out of control.
Grown in pots, given a gallon of water a day, and fed every other week, they have, shall we say, started to take control.
